Die K\u00e4the Kollwitz Plastik des K\u00fcnstlers Gustav Seitz wurde 1961 auf dem Kollwitz-Platz in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg errichtet. Bis zur Zerst\u00f6rung des Wohnhauses 1943 hatte K\u00e4the Kollwitz hier gelebt.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das Bezirksamt Prenzlauer Berg erteilte dem K\u00fcnstler Gustav Seitz im M\u00e4rz 1956 den Auftrag, ein Denkmal f\u00fcr K\u00e4the Kollwitz zu schaffen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Am 3. Juli 1957 (kurz vor dem 90. Geburtstag der 1945 verstorbenen K\u00fcnstlerin) wurde die Aufstellung der K\u00e4the Kollwitz Plastik auf dem Kollwitz-Platz beschlossen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Im August 1958 stellte Seitz das Gipsmodell der Plastik fertig und \u00fcbergab es pers\u00f6nlich an den Auftraggeber. In Abwesenheit des K\u00fcnstlers, der inzwischen die DDR verlassen hatte und nach Hamburg umgesiedelt war, erfolgten Guss und Aufstellung des Denkmals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Am 11. Oktober 1961 wurde die K\u00e4the Kollwitz Plastik auf dem Kollwitz-Platz feierlich eingeweiht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1988 (nahezu 20 Jahre nach Seitz‘ Tod) wurde f\u00fcr Magdeburg ein Nachguss der Plastik vom originalen Gipsmodell angefertigt. Dieser befindet sich inzwischen im Skulpturenpark Magdeburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seitz (der Kollwitz pers\u00f6nlich kannte) modellierte den Kopf von K\u00e4the Kollwitz nach einem Selbstportrait, das diese 1938 anfertigte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ebenfalls ein Bildnis von Kollwitz‘ Kopf schuf Ernst Barlach mit seiner Plastik ‚Der Schwebende‘<\/a> (1926\/27) – der Kopf des ‚Schwebenden‘ geriet Barlach<\/a> wie er sagte ‚ohne dass ich es mir vorgenommen hatte‘ nach kollwitz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gustav Seitz (1906 Mannheim – 1969 Hamburg)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1949 erhielt Gustav Seitz den Nationalpreis der DDR f\u00fcr das von ihm geschaffene Mahnmal f\u00fcr die Opfer des Faschismus in Wei\u00dfwasser (Oberlausitz).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seitz trat 1958 aus der Akademie der K\u00fcnste der DDR aus. Er siedelte im Herbst 1958 nach Hamburg<\/a> \u00fcber, wurde dort Professor an der Hochschule f\u00fcr bildenden K\u00fcnste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gustav Seitz starb am 26. Oktober 1969 in Hamburg. Sein Grab befindet sich auf dem Friedhof Blankenese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Der Nachlass von Gustav Seitz wurde mit letztwilliger Verf\u00fcgung seiner Frau Luise 1988 in eine Stiftung \u00fcbertragen. Der Nachlass wird seit 2017 (zuvor in Hamburg in dessen ehemaligem Wohnhaus) im Schloss Trebnitz<\/a> (M\u00fcncheberg \/ Brandenburg) bewahrt und eine Sammlung in einem eigenen Musuem gezeigt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
