Friedrich Drake<\/strong>? Nur noch wenige kennen heute seinen Namen, auch nur noch wenige Berliner. Sein bekanntestes Werk hingegen kennen viele … die so genannte Goldels<\/strong>e .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Der Bildhauer<\/strong> Friedrich Drake wurde  am 23. Juni 1805 in Bad Pyrmont<\/strong> geboren. Er starb am 6. April 1882 in Berlin. Drake war Sch\u00fcler von Christian Daniel Rauch<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bekanntestes Werk von Friedrich Drake ist die ‚Viktoria<\/strong>‚ – die bronzene Skulptur der (r\u00f6mischen) Siegesg\u00f6ttin Viktoria<\/strong> (angeblich nach dem Vorbild seiner Tochter Margarethe gestaltet) auf der 1873 eingeweihten und 2010\/11 aufwendig sanierten und neu vergoldeten Siegess\u00e4ule<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1938 \/ 1939 wurde die Siegess\u00e4ule vom fr\u00fcheren Standort, dem heutigen Platz der Republik an den heutigen Standort am Gro\u00dfen Stern versetzt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friedrich Drake konnte 1873 wohl noch nicht ahnen, dass die Siegess\u00e4ule und seine Viktoria sp\u00e4ter an neuem Platz zu dem Symbol des bekanntesten schwulen Cruising<\/a><\/strong>-Gebiets im Tiergarten<\/strong> werden sollte, mit seiner Siegesg\u00f6ttin Viktoria verballbornt als ‚Goldelse‘.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oder doch? Sein Grab jedenfalls befindet sich auf dem Alten St. Matth\u00e4us Kirchhof<\/a> – der sich seit vielen Jahren bei schwulen Verstorbenen und ihren Angeh\u00f6rigen gro\u00dfer Beliebtheit erfreut …<\/p>\n\n\n\n
