Die \u00e4lteste fast vollst\u00e4ndig erhaltene astronomische Uhr im Ostsee-Raum befindet sich in der Welterbe-Stadt Stralsund.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nicolaus Lillienveld baute 1394 eine Uhr f\u00fcr die Kirche St. Niokolai in Stralsund. Eine astronomische Uhr, die alle 24 Stunden des Tages zeigt, dazu das aktuelle Tierkreis-Zeichen. Das genaue Datum der Vollendung der Uhr ist bekannt: der 6. November 1394. Dar\u00fcber informiert ein Schriftband auf der Uhr:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnno mcccxciiii In die sancte nicolai completum est opus per nicolaum lillienueld orate pro factoribus et largitoribus qui cum diligencia compleuerunt.<\/em>\u201d
\n(Im Jahre 1394, am Tage des Heiligen Nikolaus, ist dies Werk fertiggestellt durch Nikolaus Lillienfeld. Betet f\u00fcr die Verfertiger und Schenkgeber, welche es mit sorgendem Flei\u00df geschaffen haben!)<\/p>\n

In den Ecken des Ziffernblattes der Uhr sind die vier Weltweisen dargestellt (ein seltenes Motiv): von links oben im Uhrzeigersinn nach links unten Claudius Ptolemaeus, Alfons X. von Kastillien, der arabische Astronom und Arzt Hali (Ali ibn Ridwan) sowie der persische Astronom und Mathematiker Albumasar<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Besonders bemerkenswert an der astronomischen Uhr von Stralsund ist sicher nicht ihre Pr\u00e4chtigkeit. Andere astronomische Uhren wie die in Stra\u00dfburg oder Prag sind beeindruckender. Doch die Stralsunder astronomische Uhr hat ein besonderes \u201cInnenleben\u201d. Im Gegensatz zu vielen astronomischen Uhren, die im 18. oder 19. Jahrhundert renoviert wurden, ist das Uhrwerk aus dem 14. Jahrhundert weitgehend original erhalten.<\/p>\n

Das Uhrwerk ist seit dem 10. April 1525 leider nicht mehr in Betrieb, wie zu h\u00f6ren ist inzwischen um es zu schonen (und einen etwaigen Ersatz mittelalterlicher Originalteile zu vermeiden), wohl aber auch aus finanziellen Gr\u00fcnden (Unterhaltskosten).<\/p>\n
